The 9th Annual
Marine Breeding Initiative Workshop
We would like to thank our sponsors, speakers, attendees, and everyone involved in making the 2018 MBI Workshop a success! Dates for the 2019 Workshop will be announced soon so keep your schedule for next July open.
The MBI Workshop is tailored to provide the most cutting-edge captive breeding information to hobbyist breeders and professional aquarists in a setting that promotes interaction and free exchange of ideas. The only event of its kind dedicated to you, the marine breeder!
If you are interested in the captive breeding of marine ornamentals on any level, this is the event to attend. Not only will you hear the latest information from some of the most innovative people involved, you will have ample time to chat with them directly and meet other breeders that share your passion.
We will be following the same format we’ve used in the past with an informal reception on Friday evening, Workshop all day on Saturday, and a BBQ on Sunday so plan your travel accordingly!
As a special bonus, we are pleased to announce that we have added three extra sessions this year! There will be two sessions dedicated to seahorse and pipefish enthusiasts as well as a scientific session for the home breeder hosted by Tamara Marshall. Check the schedule page for specific times and locations.
The Marine Breeding Initiative was created as an online tool to encourage marine aquaria hobbyists to get involved in the captive breeding of marine organisms. The MBI was designed with the help of leading experts in the breeding of marine ornamentals realm to be a standardized database and award system that can be both fun and freely accessed by everyone. Open-source sharing of information is vital to the MBI’s core principals.
The MBI is a division of a tax-exempt 501(c)3 organization that relies on public donations and fundraisers to continue to maintain its database and host the MBI Workshop.
